The Mirage

In The Mirage, a triptych installation, the artist uses Prussian blue color to visualize the ocean horizon of Qingdao and the ghostly silhouette of the German warship SMS Iltis. Commissioned to enforce Germany’s colonial presence in China, the warship took part in the suppression of the Boxer Rebellion in 1900 and was later scuttled in 1914 during the Siege of Qingdao.
